Danube Participation Day

  • Danube Participation Day is a stakeholder conference of Priority Area 10 “Institutional Capacity and Cooperation” and Priority Area 9 “Investing in People and Skills” of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR). Civil Society participation belongs to the actions of PA10 „Capacity building and cooperation“. The event brings together participants from all of the 14 countries of the Danube River (stakeholder and local actors from civil society, the cultural sector, the youth sectors, local authorities as well as academia) to exchange views and perceptions among each other and to meet and discuss in-depth with EU and national decision makers.
  • The main drivers of this event is the Austrian based Danube Civil Society Forum (DCSF) and PA10 (2014-2015) beginning with 2016 also together with Agapedia foundation which is based in Baden-Württemberg. The Danube Participation Days are official side events of the EUSDR Annual Fora and actually should be moved within the annual EUSDR fora to better represent the three major spheres of state, market and civil society within the macroregion.
  • Together they developed a project with the title „Development of the civil society in the Danube Region“, co-developed and co-funded by the Baden-Württemberg Foundation. The consortium consisted of Agapedia Germany (Lead Partner), togather with PA10, the Danube Civil Society Forum, the Center for Social Investment and Innovation (CSI) of Heidelberg University and the Citizen Participation Forum from Bulgaria. The goal was to further develop the Danube Participation Days and also National Participation Days in different countries in the Danube Region and coorganize and network the three main events in Bratislava (2016), Budapest (2017) and Sofia (2018). This networking was continued further in Danube Youth Participation project in Bukarest 2019 and Croatia 2020 (first complete online event)
